Belfast-born writer Anna Hart started her career in journalism covering the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. As a rookie reporter (and first female writer) for as FHM magazine, she covered global events, cover interviews, and adventure travel. She moved on to the roles of Features Editor at both Grazia and Stylist magazines before becoming a full-time freelance international reporter. She has been a weekly columnist for The Daily Telegraph (UK) and is currently monthly international culture columnist for Gourmet Traveller Australia. Her work reflects a passion for amplifying marginalised voices, and producing engaging & accessible reporting on socially and politically important subjects.

Over her two-decade career as a writer, Anna has taught and coached countless writers. She has offered short 2/3-hour travel writing workshops at festivals such as Port Eliot Literary Festival (UK), Wilderness Festival (UK) and community arts centres such as C5 (California).

As Features Editor at Grazia magazine, she taught a longer journalism course at London’s Southbank Centre, which sourced attendees from underprivileged backgrounds. In 2018 Anna taught a short six week creative writing course as part of the adult learning programme of the University Of Kent.

A multi-disciplinary storyteller, Anna co-directed the acclaimed short documentary Taking The Waters (2018) with director Kathryn Ferguson (Sinead O’Connor: Nothing Compares, 2022).

In 2022 she co-presented the Discovery Channel's Italian travel series Discover Italy’s Food Valley. Her recent radio and audio appearances include BBC Woman's Hour, the Today programme, and popular podcasts like Ctrl Alt Delete.

Her first book, the solo travel memoir Departures, was published by Little, Brown Book Group in 2018, accompanied by a book tour that included Glastonbury Festival, Wilderness Festival, Stoke Newington Literary Festival and Port Eliot Literary Festival.

During the 2020 global pandemic, Anna put her travel and design experience to use (alongside two talented designer friends) and launched Club Jupiter, a caravan renovation project bringing retro design and fresh energy to UK travel. As a feel-good pandemic story, it featured in titles such as Architectural Digest, The Times (UK) and Conde Nast Traveller.
